What is the Internet?

The Internet is a worldwide network of interconnected computers and devices that communicate with each other using standardized protocols, primarily TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol). Simple Definition The Internet is often called a "network of networks" because it connects millions of smaller networks around the world. Real-World Example When you visit a website: Your computer sends a request over the Internet. The request travels through routers and networks. A web server receives the request. The server sends the webpage back. Your browser displays the page.
